3D-laser scanning and point clouds

How we use 3D-laser scanning in our projects

DAE provides 3D-scanning facilities to its customers based in Russia. Recently, we have launched a project with one of the largest Russian banks, and one of the client’s requests was to laser-scan some of its branches in order to create detailed floor plans. As the objects’ total areas were more than 150 000 sq. meters, our decision was to purchase the newest handheld imaging laser scanner from Leica.

Leica’s BLK2GO laser scanner recreates spaces in 3D as you move. It captures images and dimensionally accurate point clouds in real-time and uses SLAM technology to record your trajectory through space. This scanner now allows DAE to scan any areas within less time, instantly seeing results.

Once the scanning is finished, its results can be uploaded to Leica’s JetStream Viewer software, which helps us with ultra-high-speed rendering of point cloud data to instantly open and display an unlimited number of points. With JetStream Viewer, our clients receive up-to-date data ready to be viewed and utilized for any needs.
